25 Irish High Points Challenge

The goal in this unique Irish Highpointeering challenge is to visit any 25 of Ireland's 187 major geographical High Points within a single Sport Hillwalking season. Each High Point location is worth a single point in this eight-month-long challenge and can only be counted once.

The 25 Irish High Points Challenge also gives participants an opportunity to pursue our annual Irish Highpointeer of the Year award. At the end of the Sport Hillwalking season, the man and woman who log visits to more High Points than anyone else using the Peakhunter app will each receive the Irish Highpointeer of the Year award.

Peakhunter is our official logging partner.

This challenge is hosted exclusively within the Peakhunter platform where every successful challenger earns a digital badge for their Peakhunter profile page. To receive the badge, participating hillwalkers are required to register for this challenge. To register, you must be signed into your Peakhunter account. Once signed in, click the green button below.

If you would also like to represent your walking club / county / province in our Sport Hillwalking team competitions, you are very welcome to take part in the All-Ireland Hillwalking Championships.

The 25 Irish High Points Challenge also provides an interesting charity-fundraising opportunity for hillwalkers.

During the Sport Hillwalking season, challengers can also count High Point visits towards their All-Ireland Hillwalking Championships scores. Disclaimer

If you are planning to visit any of the locations on the Irish High Point lists, please be aware that Highpointeering, rambling, hill-walking, hiking and mountaineering are risk activities. High Point Ireland and Donard Media (the website's publisher) accept no responsibility for any injury, loss or inconvenience sustained by anyone using this website. Personal safety is entirely the participant's own responsibility.
The inclusion of locations on the official list of Ireland's major geographical High Points is based entirely on each location's ability to meet the necessary criteria for at least one of the eight primary sub-lists contained on this website. It should not be assumed that access is permitted to any of the High Point locations on the list. High Point Ireland and Donard Media recommend that anyone planning to visit any of the High Point locations on the list should check for potential access restrictions and to request permission from the relevant landowner(s) in advance.
