Team Munster

The province's sport hillwalking team

Step up for Munster

#StepUpForMunster

Picture

  1. Is Munster your home province?
  2. Are you an experienced and well-equipped hillwalker / mountaineer?
  3. Can you self-navigate confidently through rugged and exposed terrain in any weather using a hardcopy paper map and compass?
  4. Would you like to represent Munster in an all-Ireland sport?

If you answered yes to all four of the above questions, we invite you to #StepUpForMunster in the All-Ireland Hillwalking Provinces Championship. For a chance to become a member of your province's Sport Hillwalking team, you must compete in the All-Ireland Hillwalking Championships as an individual (click here for participation instructions).

Find out when the current or upcoming championships are taking place by visiting our sports competition status page. The Sport Hillwalking season is scheduled to start on 1st May and end on 31st August each year.

In early September, the five highest point-scoring individuals representing Munster will be identified as the province's official Sport Hillwalking team in the All-Ireland Hillwalking Provinces Championship. Their scores added together will become the province's overall score for the year. A province must be represented by at least 2 individuals to qualify as a team.

To represent Team Munster, you must also be representing one of its 6 county teams:

  • County Clare
  • County Cork
  • County Kerry
  • County Limerick
  • County Tipperary
  • County Waterford

All you need to do is post this page's URL on Facebook or Twitter (the image below containing your province's location map and hashtag will automatically appear in the post). And don't forget to include #StepUpForMunster in the post's text.

Use our affiliate links

All of our Sport Hillwalking initiatives are 100% free for you to take part in. However, please note that we do have significant operational costs which we cover on a voluntary basis ourselves. The long-term development strategy for High Point Ireland, Sport Hillwalking and our growing family of independent Irish information websites will continue to be implemented over the coming years and for as long as it takes until our strategic goals are achieved. To help us speed things along, we'd be most grateful if you would consider using the affiliate links we have set up on The Ireland Travel Guide website to buy your outdoor gear and book accommodation / transport online in the future. Using these links will not affect the price you pay at checkout. However, each purchase / booking you make could send a small commission our way at no extra cost to you. Make no mistake, this is certainly not a get-rich-quick effort, but rather a very slow drip-feed of pennies and cents to partially cover the time, effort and money we continue to invest in our range of independent projects. Thank you for your support.
