Individual hillwalkers are at the heart of the High Point Ireland hillwalking community. As such, we owe it to them to deliver the fullest selection of participation initiatives through which they can set, and hopefully reach, their hillwalking goals. Our initiatives for individuals include High Point challenges, mountain challenges and the official All-Ireland sport hillwalking competitions.
Hillwalking is a challenge-based activity by its very nature. For some, the challenge might be walking to a specific summit they had thought was beyond their ability. For others, the challenge might be to undertake an intimidating ridge walk or to visit every peak on a published list. We have developed an unrivalled selection of challenge ideas for hillwalkers to test themselves against. Our High Point challenges are listed on this website and our mountain challenges are listed on The Ireland Walking Guide website. Find out more about our challenges via the black buttons below.
High Point Ireland is proud to have created and developed the official All-Ireland Hillwalking Championships. These were first hosted in 2020, and are based on participationg hillwalkers' combined performances in our annual Highpointeering Leagues and Mountain Race competitions. The Irish sport hillwalking seacson starts each year on the Spring Equinox and finishes on the Autumn Equinox. We aim to announce the results each year in October. Support a charity
We are more than happy for our various challenges to be used as charity fundraisers. Our unrivalled selection of High Point challenges and mountain challenges give independent charity walkers the widest choice of flexible fundraising initiatives.
Share your story
Social media plays a major role in today's world of communications. At High Point Ireland, we embrace this technology by encouraging sport hillwalkers to share their stories, photos and videos across a range of social networking services. If you would want us to see / like / share your social media posts, all you need to do is mention @hipointireland in the text. We receive a notification every time we get mentioned and will take a look at each post brought to our attention in this way. If your post is relevant to us, and is likely to be of interest to our followers, we will interact accordingly.
Feel free to also mention @irelandwalking if you would like to reach Ireland's wider walking community.
