What is the Million Metre Challenge?

The Million Metre Challenge is a unique community initiative which is is linked to our Ten Thousand Metre Challenge and Highpointeer of the Year awards competition.
The aim of the challenge is for our registered Ten Thousand Metre Challengers to collectively visit 1,000,000 vertical metres worth of Gribbon locations during the calendar year (1st January to 31st December). Please note that all total figures in this challenge are related to location elevations and do not reflect the actual amount of ascent undertaken by challengers. |
Take part in the challenge
The Million Metre Challenge is linked to our Ten Thousand Metre Challenge. Follow these steps to take part:
By submitting a Highpointeer Logsheet & Entry Form, you will also be entered into the Highpointeer of the Year awards competition, the Counties League and the Provinces League.
- You must first register as a Ten Thousand Metre Challenger. Email us to register. We will need you to provide your name and home county so we can add you to our our list of registered challengers. Please note that this is limited to 100 challengers and the closing date for registration is 30th September 2017.
- We will issue you a special version of the Highpointeer Logsheet & Entry Form.
- Ask your family, friends and colleagues to sponsor you.
- Visit Gribbon locations during 2017 and log them digitally in your Highpointeer Logsheet & Entry Form. While filling in this form, the your personal "metres" total is automatically generated. Please note that, to count towards this challenge, every visit to a Gribbon location requires a verification photograph which clearly shows the participant at the location (each photo needs to be linked to from your Highpointeer Logsheet & Entry Form.
- Email a copy of your completed Highpointeer Logsheet & Entry Form to us no later than 31st December 2017 (include the phrase "Highpointeer of the Year 2017" in the title of your email).
- In January 2018, your personal total metres will be displayed in the online results. Please ask your sponsors to make their donation via the High Point Ireland 10,000m Challenge 2017 fundraiser page before it closes on 31st January 2018.
- Your personal "metres" total will be added to the Million Metre Challenge total for 2017.
By submitting a Highpointeer Logsheet & Entry Form, you will also be entered into the Highpointeer of the Year awards competition, the Counties League and the Provinces League.
