Step up for your Club
#StepUpForYourClub

We invite you to #StepUpForYourClub in the High Point Ireland Clubs League. Established in 2017, our Clubs League is the first-ever All-Ireland Highpointeering team competition to be contested between Ireland's walking clubs. Every Irish rambler, hillwalker, hiker, mountaineer and mountain runner qualifies as a member of his / her club's Highpointeering team. Each team member wishing to represent their club in the Clubs League can do so by visiting High Point locations during the High Point Ireland league year (1st January - 31st December), logging those visits on the Peakhunter smartphone app AND via our online Highpointeer Score Form no later than 31st December at the end of that league year. During the following January, the ten highest point-scorers from each club's team will officially become that club's "Elite Ten". Those ten scores added together will become the club's overall score. The club with the highest points score will be announced as the High Point Ireland Clubs League champion.

The Clubs League is only open to walking clubs who are listed as Associated Walking Clubs on the High Point Ireland website. If your walking club does not appear on our Associated Walking Clubs list, please tell the club committee about our annual Clubs League so they can arrange to get listed. If you are a committee member of a non-associated walking club, we invite you to get your club listed so it can be represented in this unique all-Ireland competition.

The rules

Instructions for individual club members

  • Inform your club's committee that you are representing the club in the High Point Ireland Clubs League. If your walking club does not appear on our Associated Walking Clubs page, please tell the club committee about our annual Clubs League so they can arrange to get listed.

  • Download the Peakhunter app to your smartphone and set up a profile. Peakhunter is our official logging partner.

  • Visit High Point locations in Ireland. Log these High Point visits while present at the location using the Peakhunter app.

  • Register your High Point visits with us using our online Highpointeer Score Form before the end of 31st December.

  • The Clubs League competition starts on 1st January and ends on 31st December each year. During this year-long competition, you are permitted to count up to four visits to each High Point location towards your club's total points-score for the year.

  • If visiting the same High Point location more than once, you must allow at least 48 hours between visits. Multiple visits to the same location within the same 48-hour period will only count as one visit. This is to ensure that you do not simply step out of a High Point's logging zone and back in immediately to log it again. Please note that all Peakhunter logs are time-stamped.

  • Highpointeer Score Forms and Club Entry Forms received after 31st December of the respective awards year will not be considered.

  • All of the rules above apply to all of our year-long, points-based award and league competitions.

  • All of the rules above (excluding the set dates) also apply to our year-long, metres-based 10,000m Challenge.

Instructions for club committee members

  • Please make sure that your club is listed on our Associated Walking Clubs page and on The Ireland Walking Guide website. Listing on both websites is free (click here to get listed).

  • Feel free to let your fellow club members know about the Clubs League and that they can contribute to your official score as individual Highpointeers.

  • Identify the ten highest-scoring Highpointeers in your club at the end of the year.

  • Complete and submit the online Club Entry Form before the end of 31st December.

Winner selection

  • All submitted Highpointeer Score Forms are automatically added to a secure spreadsheet.

  • Each completed Highpointeer Score Form received is manually checked and verified.

  • After the submissions deadline (31st December), the final version of the spreadsheet containing all verified Highpointeer Score Forms received during the year is interrogated and the three highest scoring clubs are identified. Each club's team can comprise a maximum of 10 individual Highpointeers whose combined points scores become their club's overall points score for the year.

  • The highest scoring club receives the Gold Award, the second highest receives Silver, and the third highest receives Bronze.

  • Award winners are announced as soon as possible after the entry submissions deadline.

Disclaimer

If you are planning to visit any of the locations on the Irish High Point lists, please be aware that Highpointeering, rambling, hill-walking, hiking and mountaineering are risk activities. High Point Ireland and Donard Media (the website's publisher) accept no responsibility for any injury, loss or inconvenience sustained by anyone using this website. High Point Ireland and Donard Media recommend that anyone planning to visit any of the High Point locations on the list should check for potential access restrictions and to request permission from the relevant landowner(s) in advance.
