The point-scoring system detailed below was used in the official All-Ireland Sport Hillwalking competitions until 2021. Details of our current point-scoring system can be found here.
187 locations comprise the full list of Ireland's major geographical High Points. These locations are marked on the map below. Each location has been assigned a points score based on the following criteria:
Please note that this point-scoring system will be replaced with a new one after the 2021 competition season finishes. From 2022 onwards, all locations will have their point-score values updated accordingly

- Province High Point = 5 points
- County High Point = 4 points per county
- Local Council High Point = 1 point per local council area
- Range High Point = 3 points
- Major Island High Point = 2 points
- Major River High Point = 1 point per major river catchment
- 20km Isolation High Point = 2 points
- 500m Prominence High Point = 2 points
